Crude Oil Producing Countries Ranked by Production Volume (Including Indonesia)
Crude oil remains a crucial global energy source, and its production is dominated by a number of key countries. Based on recent data, here are the world’s top crude oil producers ranked by daily output:
  1. United States – The leading global producer, with output exceeding 12 million barrels per day (bpd), driven by shale oil production.
  2. Saudi Arabia – Producing around 10–11 million bpd, Saudi Arabia is one of the largest exporters of crude oil and a key member of OPEC.
  3. Russia – With production around 9–10 million bpd, Russia remains a major energy supplier, especially to Europe and Asia.
  4. Canada – Producing over 4 million bpd, Canada has vast oil sands reserves, making it a significant oil exporter.
  5. China – With output of approximately 4 million bpd, China is both a major producer and one of the world’s largest oil consumers.
  6. Iraq – Producing around 4 million bpd, Iraq holds some of the world’s largest proven oil reserves.
  7. United Arab Emirates (UAE) – With output around 3–4 million bpd, the UAE is a key OPEC member
  8. Brazil – Producing over 3 million bpd, Brazil is the largest oil producer in South America, thanks to offshore deepwater fields.
  9. Iran – Output varies due to sanctions, but typically around 2.5–3 million bpd.
  10. Kuwait – Produces about 2.5–3 million bpd, with high export volumes.
Many other countries follow, including Nigeria, Mexico, Angola, Norway, Kazakhstan, and Qatar, each producing between 1–2 million bpd. Indonesia is currently ranked around 23rd in the world, with production averaging around 600,000–700,000 barrels per day. In the past, Indonesia was a major oil exporter and a member of OPEC. However, due to declining production from mature oil fields and limited new discoveries, Indonesia now imports more oil than it exports. Despite this, it remains an important oil producer in Southeast Asia.
